Benefits of Flange Bolts

Flange Bolt

We strive to source only the highest quality flange bolts that the industry has to offer. Below is a summary of the technology that makes our products exceptional.

Non-Indented Head Flange Bolt

Non-Indented Head Flange Bolt

Hex flange machine screws most commonly sold today feature an indentation at the top of the head. This is a byproduct of the bolt forming process in which the top of the head is pushed inward to help flush the 6 corners of the hex screw head. However, this results in rounded/blunted corners, which can lead to premature worn and damaged corners affecting tool grip. The indentation will also accumulate dirt, oil and other debris after prolong use.

At NBS, we believe there is a better way. Working closely with our suppliers, NBS has been importing non-indented head hex flange machine screws and frame bolts since 2004. Produced using FMI's® acclaimed DFK® production process, all non-indented head flange machine screws and frame bolts feature extraordinarily sharp corners to maximize tool fitment and grip while the flush screw head prevents dirt and oil from accumulating on the screw. More importantly, the DFK® production process eliminates the use of expensive cutting dyes, resulting in tangible cost savings compared to other non-indented hex flange machine screws.

Flange Bolts vs. Hex Cap Screws/Washers

  1. Consistent quality

NBS has long believed that the products we carry should help our customers, not just in quality but in efficiency as well. In 1998, NBS began carrying a complete line of hex flange machine screws that could be used interchangeably with hex cap screws & washers. The goal was to help customers not only reduce the amount of inventory they had to carry (bolts, nuts, washers) to increase efficiency as well.

  2. Shorter assembly times

    47% Reduction in assembly time

After speaking and working with dozens of customers, NBS found that when using a hex flange machine screw and flange nut, compared to a hex cap screw, finished hex nut and washer, assembly times were reduced by as much as 47%.

  3. Reduce Overstock

Due to the integrated washer design and strict adherence to IFI-111 specifications, hex flange machine screws not only serve as the ideal upgrade over the hex cap screws and washers but also ensure uniform quality and size.

DFK@ (Direct Forming w/ Anti-Rotation Knock-Out)

Patents Pending

DFK@ (Direct Forming w/ Anti-rotation Knock-out) is a highly advanced manufacturing technique developed by FEMICO for flange bolt production, This technique not only replaces the ‘traditional’ double-ended method, producing a cleaner, sharper, higher quality flange bolt, but is also easier to meet the highest tolerances allowed.

FMl’s “Direct Forming w/ Anti-rotation Kick-out” technique is internationally recognized and has received multiple patents from across Asia, including: Taiwan, China and Malaysia, This patent is currently pending in Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia.
